Praděd 1,491 m · Spa towns · Peat bogs

The harshest climate in Czechia, Praděd and three spa towns in one valley. Far from everything, and empty for that reason.

Praděd (1,491 m) is the highest mountain in Moravia and Silesia and the fifth-highest in Czechia; it has the harshest climate in the country. The Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area (744 km²) has existed since 1969.

In the valley below the mountains lie three spa towns with official status and spa care: Jeseník, Lipová-lázně and Karlova Studánka. Velké Losiny has both a spa and a Renaissance château.

    How we chose

    • Jeseníky is a tourist area, not an administrative region, so it has no official border. We draw it as an area around one reference point (between Praděd and Jeseník).
    • Facts such as areas, dates and rules come from official bodies and Wikipedia. Each one is in the source list below, with the date we last checked it.
    • Stay DNA and the “Know before you go” panel are our editorial estimates, compared with the other places in the atlas. They are not measurements or visitor ratings.
    • We name no individual hosts, and nobody pays to be included.
