Třeboň in winter
Spa · Saunas · Mist · Peace
In winter Třeboň goes back to the locals. The dams are empty, mist hangs over the fishponds, and the spa is the best place to hide from the frost.
Why go in winter
- The spa runs all year. Pools and the sauna world at Aurora, treatments in both houses.
- The brewery runs tours all year round. In the winter months the night tours by torchlight start earlier, at 19:00.
- The landscape turns graphic in winter: drained fishponds, hoar frost on the alders, mist over the canals.
- Silence. In January the Svět dam is all yours.

Skating on the fishponds?
In winter the fishponds are often drained or have a fluctuating water level, and the ice is uneven in thickness and weak near outlets, canals and reeds. Only go onto the ice where the municipality or the operator explicitly allows it. If in doubt, stay off.

How we chose
- We wrote about Třeboň because it works as a base for a stay: there is somewhere to sleep, something to do on foot or by bike, and a way to get there.
- Facts such as areas, dates and rules come from official bodies and Wikipedia. Each one is in the source list below, with the date we last checked it.
- We name no individual hosts, and nobody pays to be included.
